Even those who don't work outside the home and have more time to cook, find slow cookers beneficial. Besides making meals easier to prepare, slow cookers make foods more flavorful and incredibly tender - especially meats.

Who wudda thunk that such a wild combination would make such an intriguingly delicious stew?

With the dinner party menu planned, the shopping list created, I'll return from my market and start on Roasted Red Pepper Soup, the first course of this classic 6 course French dinner for friends.

All in all, I really like this versatility of this spoon, and it comes in very handy when we are out camping. I always get compliments on what a great looking spoon it is.

It was an afternoon late fall when we visited the Bull & Castle, so the restaurant was quiet and a welcome relief from the bustle of tourists outside of Christchurch. However, I have a feeling that the Bull & Castle gets overly crowded during peak tourist season. Both of us enjoyed our meals very much. The lunch menu is pretty diverse, offering burgers, quesadillas, Irish simple beef in slow cooker, fish and chips, soups, salads, and a rotating menu of daily specials. For dessert, my dining companion and I split a deep-fried Mars bar with ice cream and raspberry coulis. It was heavy, overly sweet, and precisely what we were expecting.

Treat yourself to a small adventure in the bulk section of a health foods store or a spice store. Look at the colors and textures of the herbs and spices. For any that look interesting, open the canister and take a whiff of the fragrance (but not too close and avoid breathing into or near the contents!) See if a couple options don't call out for experimentation.
